Pot Luck Setup

Pot luck dinners are a staple for many winter campground guests. Pot lucks don't happen without a host and-or hostess to set up the space and make coffee, so no host, no potluck! Here's the info on what it takes to do this relatively simple job. And remember, the activities team is always ready to support your hosting.

POT LUCK SET-UP & CLEAN-UP
Set-Up
  • Get key from Pot Luck coordinator.  The key is required to access supplies, equipment & power. 
  • Turn up the flaps where the small tent joins the large one, especially if it is raining or is going to rain.  If needed, there is a step ladder in the community room.
  • Turn on Electricity at outside box and make sure lights are on
  • Put on tablecloths (check for cleanliness) and bench covers
  • Put salt & pepper out on the tables
  • If you're going to use numbers for serving order, mark tables and put poker chips in the "poker chip" can
  • Put serving utensils on the buffet table
  • Turn water on - outside
  • Coffee:  One "1/2 cup"  of coffee per 12 cups
  • Decaf: 18 to 20 cups plug in about 5pm
  • Regular: 12 cups use small house size coffee maker for regular size group
  • Put coffee on desert table with creamer, sugar, napkins & foam cups
  • Put plastic bag(s) in garbage can(s), usually one garbage can is enough
Clean-Up
  • Wipe off tablecloths (use green bucket & Simple Green) you can get hot water at the rear of the laundry room outside.  Don't put the tablecloths away until the following day
  • Put everything away (salt & pepper shakers, sugar and cream)
  • Wash out & put away the coffee makers
  • Wipe off buffet & desert/coffee table
  • Cover the buffet table
  • Empty trash
  • Wash serving utensils put away the following day with tablecloths or bring to the next pot luck
  • Turn heaters off, if used
  • Turn off water
  • Turn off lights and electricity
  • Return key or pass it along to next host
  • If coffee, creamer, sugar are low - let Coordinator know
